Terms of Use for Norgeskart friluftsliv Outdoor and Related Services

1. Definitions

“The Service” refers to the Norgeskart friluftsliv Outdoor mobile application, available for download via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including all future updates, upgrades, related cloud-based services, APIs, servers, websites, and all content provided by Ture Apps AS.

2. Liability

Use of the Service is at your own risk. The developer disclaims all liability for any loss, damage, or costs arising from the use of the Service. This applies to both normal use and any unintended errors.

The Service is intended as an aid for recreational users engaging in outdoor activities and hiking, not for businesses.

The Service may link to websites not controlled by Ture Apps AS in connection with hiking destinations and map layer information. Ture Apps AS disclaims all liability for the content of these websites.

Use of the Service for navigation on land or at sea is at your own risk. The Norwegian Mapping Authority (Kartverket) advises against using their released nautical charts for navigation. The Service is intended solely as a supplementary aid and cannot replace chart plotters, paper maps and compass.

Using GPS and the screen can reduce your phone’s battery life. Therefore, always carry an extra power bank on longer trips to avoid running out of power.

Positional accuracy depends on GPS conditions. Steep terrain, tall buildings, dense forest, jamming, and other sources of interference can negatively affect positioning. Under good conditions, the typical accuracy for mobile phones is 5–10 meters.

Map rotation depends on the accuracy of the phone’s compass. The compass can easily be affected by nearby objects or a lack of calibration.

Downloading maps and images can result in significant data usage. It is therefore recommended that maps be downloaded in advance via a wireless network (Wi-Fi) or that you have an affordable data plan.

3. User account and profile

To access certain parts of the Service, you must create a user account.

You must provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information when registering your account and profile.

You must be 16 years of age or older to create a user account.

The account is personal and must not be shared with others. You are personally responsible for protecting your login details and for all activity that occurs under your user account. Ture Apps AS reserves the right to close or delete accounts that violate the terms of use.

A logged-in user is required to access aerial photos and certain map layers. Logging in is also necessary to synchronize registered points of interest, track logs, routes, and areas with the server.

You must also create a profile linked to your user account to register hiking destinations and to check in upon arrival at a destination.

4. User-generated content

Users can add new hiking destinations and contribute information and photos related to existing destinations.

Hiking destinations

Proposed hiking destinations submitted by the app’s users will be manually reviewed before potentially being approved and made available to other users. Information regarding destinations may be edited by Ture Apps AS and by other users (see factual details).

Images

All image submissions from users will be manually reviewed before potentially being made available to other users. This ensures that no users are exposed to offensive or sexually explicit images.

  • You may only submit images for which you hold the copyright. Violating this will result in the loss of your access to contribute information and images.
  • Avoid taking photos of people. Any people present will be removed from the image before it is made available to other users. The presence of people in the image may also result in the image being rejected.
  • Offensive or sexually explicit images will be rejected, and such submissions will result in the loss of your access to contribute information and images.
  • By submitting an image for a destination, you grant Ture Apps AS the right to freely copy, distribute, modify, and use the image.
  • Ture Apps AS determines which images are approved. Images may be removed or edited without prior notice or explanation.
  • Ture Apps AS is free to select and use the images deemed best, most unique, or most informative for a given destination.

Free-text

Only free-text fields are used for nicknames and place names when registering new hiking destinations. These will be manually reviewed before the destination is approved and made available to other users.

It is not permitted to enter information other than genuine nicknames and place names for hiking destinations. Any offensive content or personal data in these text fields will be removed and may result in the loss of your access to contribute information and images.

Factual Information

You can enter factual information about new or existing hiking destinations. Factual information is limited to yes/no or numerical data. Deliberate entry of incorrect information may result in the loss of your access to contribute information and photos.

5. Checking in at hiking destinations and results

  • You can check in upon arrival at a destination if you wish. You can choose in your profile whether you want the check-in dialog to appear automatically when you arrive.
  • In your profile, you can also choose whether you want your visits to appear in the Recently visited list for the destination. This list displays the 10 most recent visits.
  • Everyone who checks in at a destination will appear in the result lists. The result lists show the number of visits and points at the national, county, or municipal level.
  • Ture Apps AS will not check in users who have forgotten to do so themselves; this would require too much effort.
  • Please be positive and fair. Measures have been taken to limit the possibility of cheating, but no guarantees can be given.

6. Subscriptions

  • When you confirm the purchase, the payment will be charged to your iTunes or Google account.
  • The subscription will automatically be renewed unless auto-renew in Settings is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. The price is the same as originally charged.
  • You can manage your subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal by going to your Account Settings on the device after purchase.
  • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase the subscription.
  • iTunes typically does not offer refunds for active subscriptions.

7. Changes to Terms of Use

Ture Apps AS may update the terms of use when new functionality is introduced or other circumstances warrant it. New revisions take effect from the date shown at the top of the terms of use. We encourage you to check the terms of use regularly.
